Jan 30, 2015 5:51 PM

If the Orlando Magic eventually fire Jacque Vaughn as head coach, sources say Scott Skiles and Mark Jackson are two candidates.

Skiles most recently was head coach of the Milwaukee Bucks and was a member of the Magic during his playing career.

Jackson is currently a broadcaster with ESPN following his dismissal last season by the Golden State Warriors.

The Magic have lost 13 of 15 games.

Josh Robbins of the Orlando Sentinel reported that the Magic “haven’t ruled out making an in-season coaching change.”

Jacque Vaughn Not Worried About Job Security

Jan 12, 2015 1:39 PM

Jacque Vaughn said he's not worried about his job security as head coach of the Orlando Magic despite another rough patch of the season.

It helps him that he learned as a player to avoid social-media chatter and unsubstantiated speculation about potential moves.

"I really don't read it," Vaughn said after the Magic lost their sixth consecutive game Saturday night.

Vaughn has a 43-121 record as head coach of the Magic.

"I'm not on social media. And the great thing is I do my job as hard as I can every single day, and I'll always keep it that way. I keep it that simple. I don't complicate it. What I do know is, since Day One, since I accepted this job, everything I've done has been for this organization and it'll continue to be that way."

The consensus within the organization has been that the team's inexperience has been the primary reason for the losses. The recent struggles, however, have triggered team officials to search for the root causes of the problem.

"You can't blame it on Jacque," Nikola Vucevic said. "We're the guys out there playing. You can't say that it's Jacque's fault. The effort has to come from us. He can't control that. He can give us plays and X's-and-O's and all that, but if we don't come out with any effort ... it's not going to do anything.

"We obviously want this thing to turn around, not only for him but all of us. Nobody in this locker room enjoys losing. It's no fun. Everything's so much better when you win."

Ben Gordon: My Game Is Back

Jan 6, 2015 9:39 AM

The signing of Ben Gordon on a two-year, $8 million contract by the Orlando Magic was widely criticized after his substandard play with the Charlotte Hornets.

"My game is back," Gordon said Monday. "My game is sharp. I'm being efficient and doing what I wanted to accomplish. They brought me in to bring a spark off the bench, and I've tried to keep my end of the deal."

Gordon, 31, is averaging 7.5 points in 15.5 minutes per game.

"It's been a good situation for me," Gordon said. "I had to re-establish myself. I put it a lot of work, put in the time, and it's paid off."
