May 2023 Utah Jazz Wiretap

Pacers, Spurs, Raptors, Jazz Interested in Jalen McDaniels

Jan 30, 2023 9:18 AM

The Charlotte Hornets have made it known they are interested in talking trades for most players on their roster. One young player garnering significant interest is Jalen McDaniels.

The Indiana Pacers, San Antonio Spurs, Toronto Raptors and Utah Jazz are all reportedly monitoring McDaniels and his potential availability. The Hornets value McDaniels, who they drafted and developed as a second-round pick. The Pacers, Spurs and Jazz could opt to pursue McDaniels in free agency vs trading for him now.

Charlotte has also been active in trade discussions involving Mason Plumlee and Kelly Oubre Jr. Both players are on expiring contracts. Plumlee has had a productive season as the Hornets starting center. Oubre is currently out with a left hand injury, but he should return shortly after the All-Star break.

Jazz Expected To Listen To Trade Offers For Almost Entire Roster

Jan 21, 2023 2:45 PM

The Utah Jazz find themselves hovering around .500 after an impressive start. That has many around the NBA believing Utah is ready to listen to offers for almost their entire roster.

The Jazz are expected to take forward Lauri Markkanen and center Walker Kessler out of the mix, but will listen to proposals involving anyone else. Markkanen is in the midst of a breakout season, and Kessler has had an impressive rookie season.

Utah has been rumored for months to be open to moving veteran Mike Conley, Jordan Clarkson, Malik Beasley, Rudy Gay and Kelly Olynyk. All five of those players have contracts that could expire following the season. Clarkson and Gay both have player options, the Jazz have a team option for Beasley, while Conley and Olynyk are both partially guaranteed for next season.

Jordan Clarkson Hasn't Talked Extension With Jazz

Jan 16, 2023 10:03 AM

Jordan Clarkson recently held an online session with Manila, Philippines-based reporters. During the session, Clarkson clarified he had not turned down an extension from the Utah Jazz.

“I’ve really had no communication in terms of extension from my side or my team that I know of,” Clarkson said. “And if those talks are happening, sometime soon, I would love to be here in Utah, continue to play with my teammates further."

Clarkson is eligible to sign a four-year, $72 million extension with the Jazz, if he declines his player option for next season. The eight-year veteran could also opt out of the final season and become an unrestricted free agent this summer.

Cavs Considering Three-Team Trade To Land Malik Beasley

Jan 16, 2023 9:32 AM

The Cleveland Cavaliers have been looking to add another wing shooter to their rotation all season. That pursuit has the Cavs considering a three-team trade with the Atlanta Hawks and Utah Jazz.

In the rumored construction, Cleveland would land Malik Beasley from Utah. The Jazz would acquire John Collins, who they've had rumored interest in for months. The Hawks would likely acquire players from both Cleveland and Utah, with Caris LeVert potentially included in a deal.

Beasley has averaged 13.8 points and 3.5 rebounds in 46 games off the Jazz bench. The seventh-year guard has shot 40% from the field, and 36% from behind the arc.

On potential holdup for Utah is taking on the remainder of Collins' contract. The Jazz have asked the Hawks for draft compensation for taking on the $102 million that Collins is owed through 2025-26.

Clippers Interested In Trade For Mike Conley

Jan 16, 2023 8:52 AM

The Los Angeles Clippers are going to be without backup point guard John Wall for at least two weeks. Wall has an abdominal strain that will keep him out of action for the Clippers, who are battling to stay out of the Western Conference Play-In Tournament.

Wall's absence, and overall concerns about their point guard depth, has LA interested in trading for Mike Conley of the Utah Jazz. After a great start to the season, the Jazz have slipped to 10th in the West, and are on the precipice of missing the postseason. That has some believing Utah could look to move some veterans at the trade deadline.

In his 16th NBA season, Conley's play has started to slip. He's averaging 10.2 points, which is his lowest figure since his rookie season. Conley is also shooting just 38% from the field. On the flip side, the veteran point guard is averaging a career-high 7.5 assists per game.

Wizards, Jazz, Nets, Pacers Interested In Trading For John Collins

Jan 14, 2023 1:10 PM

The trade market for Atlanta Hawks forward John Collins continues to swirl. The Washington Wizards, Utah Jazz, Brooklyn Nets and Indiana Pacers all have registered vary degrees of interest in trading for Collins.

Recently, the Hawks gave Collins representatives to seek a deal on their own. Atlanta is currently in a front office transition, as Travis Schlenk stepped aside from leading the basketball operations. Landry Fields was promoted to general manager, and Kyle Korver was elevated to assistant GM.

Collins' production has dipped this season, as he's often the Hawks third to fifth option on many nights. The sixth-year big man is taking just 10.3 field goal attempts per game, which is his lowest figure since his rookie season. Without consistent touches, Collins' field goal percentage has fallen under 50% (49.6%) for the first time in his career, including a career-low 23.6% on three-pointers.

Jazz Arena To Be Renamed To Delta Center

Jan 14, 2023 12:26 PM

The Utah Jazz aren't moving from their current arena anytime soon. But their home confines will soon have a familiar name again.

The Jazz announced that on July 1, 2023, their downtown Salt Lake City arena will again be named the Delta Center. The current naming rights belong to Vivint and have since 2015. Vivint will terminate their agreement two years early, in exchange for rights to in-game promotions, advertising packages and digital ads during broadcasts.

The Delta Center name returns in Salt Lake City for the first time since the 15-year run from 1991 to 2006. Jazz owner Ryan Smith, who also owns the arena, said he hopes the Delta Center name remains for "years to come". Delta recently agreed to a lease agreement to keep a hub in Salt Lake City through at least mid-2044, with a 10-year option beyond that.
