De'Andre Hunter and the Atlanta Hawks have agreed to a four-year, $95 million contract extension.

The deal was agreed to shortly before the Monday deadline.

Hunter, the 4th overall pick in the 2019 NBA draft, becomes the 11th player from that draft class to sign an extension this offseason, joining Zion Williamson, Ja Morant, RJ Barrett, Darius Garland, Tyler Herro, Brandon Clarke, Nassir Little, Jordan Poole, Keldon Johnson and Kevin Porter Jr.

Hunter averaged 13.4 points in 53 games last season for Atlanta, along with shooting a career-best 37.9% from 3-point range. 

The Miami Heat have expressed confidence that Jae Crowder would prefer to end up with their team.

Crowder didn't want to leave the Heat following their trip to The Finals, but the franchise wasn't willing to match his three-year, $29.1 million offer he received from the Phoenix Suns.

Crowder remains away from the Suns as they look for a trade partner. 

The Heat will struggle to find matching salary for Crowder until Caleb Martin, Victor Oladipo and Dewane Dedmon become trade eligible. 

The Memphis Grizzlies, Dallas Mavericks and Boston Celtics have each been linked to Crowder, but none of those teams are currently involved in talks. 

The Atlanta Hawks are also believed to be a preferred landing spot for Crowder. 

The Atlanta Hawks have exercised the fourth-year (2023-24) contract option on Onyeka Okongwu along with the third-year (2023-24) option on Jalen Johnson.

Entering his third season with the Hawks, Okongwu averaged 8.2 points, 5.9 rebounds, 1.3 blocks and 1.1 assists in 20.7 minutes in 2021-22 (.690 FG%, .727 FT%), appearing in 48 games (six starts). He scored in double figures 17 times, pulled down 10-or-more rebounds twice and led the team in rebounding five times.

In his rookie campaign in 2021-22, Johnson played in 22 games off the bench for Atlanta, averaging 2.4 points and 1.2 rebounds in 5.5 minutes (.537 FG%, .714 FT%), scoring in double figures twice.

The Atlanta Hawks have waived Armoni Brooks, Malik Ellison, Tyson Etienne and Chris Silva. All four players were signed to non-guaranteed training camp contracts.

Atlanta is likely to keep the 15th spot on their regular season roster open for the time being. The Hawks recently traded away Maurice Harkless to get under the luxury line for this upcoming season.

All four of Brooks, Ellison, Etienne and Silva are now expected to play for the College Park Skyhawks of the G League this season. the Skyhawks are the Hawks G League affiliate franchise.
