Andre Iguodala Out At Least One Week With Neck Injury

Apr 27, 2022 3:19 PM

Andre Iguodala will be out at least one week with a neck injury.

“His neck is bothering him again,” Steve Kerr said of Iguodala. “He’s disappointed he can’t play. … It’s a huge loss for us. He’s a guy who has been through everything and seen it all in his career, played in a million playoff games for us. We can use him in a variety of ways. He’s one of our best passers and one of our best defenders.”

Iguodala was limited to just 31 of 82 regular-season games.

His latest ailment is being called a left cervical disc injury.

Joe Lacob: This Is The Team We Paid For

Apr 19, 2022 3:00 PM

The Golden State Warriors have looked dominant through the first two games of their first round series against the Denver Nuggets. Perhaps more importantly, the Warriors are close to healthy for the first time all season.

“This is the team we paid for,” Joe Lacob said. “We never really had the team together all year. So I’m excited to see them all play together. We never really got to see it. I think it’s exciting to see it.”

Lacob paused and then spoke of Golden State's breakout guard.

“The biggest thing I’m really happy about is the revelation of Jordan Poole," said Lacob. "He’s just playing incredible. … He’s arguably been our best player for a month and a half. He’s really emerging. He’s a tremendous talent.”

Poole will be eligible for a contract extension this offseason, which could put the Warriors' payroll plus taxes over $400 million.

“I’m not worried about that — certainly not now,” Lacob said. “We only have one thing on our mind now, which is to win, get to the next round and see how far we can go in these playoffs.

“I’m not going to talk about salary because it’s irrelevant right now. We’re in this year. After the year’s over we’re all evaluating where we are, and we’ll try to put the best team on the court we can for next year. And we’ll see what that is.”

Stephen Curry Still Has Discomfort In His Foot

Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry says he still feels some discomfort in his injured foot. But Curry said that "doesn't matter" and he plans to keep playing.

After coming off the bench for the Warriors first two playoff games against the Denver Nuggets, Curry added he doesn't care about starting. He said he's focused on making the minutes he plays "impactful".

Curry scored 34 points on 12-of-17 shooting in 23 minutes, as Golden State took a 2-0 series lead over Denver on Monday night.

Warriors vs Nuggets Odds, NBA Playoff Picks & Series Predictions

Apr 15, 2022 9:17 AM

The most-anticipated first-round matchup of the 2022 NBA Playoffs tips on Saturday night in prime time, when Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets take on Steph Curry, Klay Thompson and the Golden State Warriors. That is, if Curry plays.

The three-time NBA champion and two-time NBA MVP hasn’t suited up in nearly a month (foot). He is expected for this series, but is questionable for the opener. That, in turn, opens a door for Denver to gain homecourt advantage if it can pounce at Chase Center.

Ahead of Game 1, Bookies.com breaks down the series and makes our NBA picks to back on betting apps.

Nuggets vs Warriors Betting Tips

The Curry Factor: Steph Curry hasn’t played since March 16 and his status for Game 1 is in question. The Warriors were 2-7 this season vs. playoff teams or those still vying for a final spot. That includes a 131-124 Nuggets win on March 7.

Honors Even: This season there hasn’t been any great trends in the four games between the Warriors and Nuggets to take into account for NBA betting fans. Each team went 2-2 against the spread and the Over was 2-2 as well. Denver did win both games at Golden State.

Target Draymond Props: The Warriors are 19-4 when Draymond Green plays and scores eight points. The Nuggets allowed the sixth-most production to opposing power forwards and are bottom-three vs. forwards of either position. He could be a player to focus early on in terms of points-rebounds-assists props.

Nuggets vs Warriors Picks

The Warriors are -250 to win this first-round showdown, while the Nuggets are +210 to advance on sports betting apps.

The Warriors are known for their scoring prowess, but they actually rank No. 2 in the NBA in defensive efficiency. Defensive enforcer Draymond Green didn’t play in any of the four previous games vs. Denver – he’ll be tasked with making Jokic uncomfortable.

That’s the key. Jokic makes everything go for the Nuggets and he’ll continue to get his. But make it more challenging and Golden State can outscore Denver after that. We like the Warriors to ride their depth to the second round. Due to Curry’s questionable status for Game 1, we’re staying off the exact game odds.

Nuggets vs Warriors Schedule

Game 1: April 16, Denver at Golden State, 8:30 p.m. ET, ABC

Game 2: April 18, Denver at Golden State, 10 p.m. ET, TNT

Game 3: April 21, Golden State at Denver, 10 p.m. ET, TNT

Game 4: April 24, Golden State at Denver, 3:30 p.m. ET, ABC

Game 5-7: TBD if necessary

Stephen Curry's Status For Game 1 Of Playoffs Likely To 'Go Down To Wire'

Apr 10, 2022 10:38 PM

The status of Stephen Curry for the start of the playoffs next week will likely not be clear until shortly before Game 1. Curry is working his way back from a left foot sprain.

"We'll see how everything goes with Steph next week. There is a chance he could be ready for Game 1, there is a chance he might not," Warriors coach Steve Kerr said ahead of the team's regular-season finale against the New Orleans Pelicans on Sunday night. "It's literally going to be a day-to-day thing as it unfolds this week. We'll know a lot more after the next few days when he's ramping up his work."

Kerr had not spoken with the team's head trainer, Rick Celebrini, and didn't have an update on what kind of work Curry has been able to do over the past several days while the Warriors have been on the road.

Curry has yet to participate in any team activity. Curry is expected to increase his practice and workload this week.

"It's up in the air, as far as Steph's participation," Kerr said. "We'll see how it goes the next couple of days. ... As the week goes on, we'll see where Steph is, but I imagine this will go right down to the wire, as far as Game 1 is concerned -- whether we know his availability or not."

LeBron James Says He'd Like To Play With Stephen Curry

Apr 7, 2022 9:04 AM

On an upcoming episode of "The Shop" LeBron James was asked which player he most wants to play with. James, as he has for a while now, said his sonny Bronny is his first choice. When asked to pick a current NBA player, James didn't hesitate in picking Stephen Curry.

"Steph Curry's the one that I wanna play with for sure, in today's game. ... I love everything about that guy. Lethal," James said. "When he get out his car, you better guard him right from the moment he pulls up to the arena. ... You might wanna guard him when he get out of the bed. Swear to god. He's serious."

For his part, Curry was flattered, but said playing together at All-Star games will have to satisfy James for now.

"Well he got his wish. He was the captain and he's picked me for the last two All-Star Games. So I don't know if that suffices, but I'm good right now," Curry said. "Whenever you get the interest or curiosity of what it would be like to play with arguably the MVP kinda caliber dude like he is, one of the greatest of all-time, cool. That's amazing. We all can live in that fantasy world."
