Jimmy Butler Canceled Other Free Agency Visits Immediately After Meeting Heat

Jul 22, 2019 9:16 AM

After meeting with the Miami Heat on June 30th, Jimmy Butler quickly canceled his other scheduled meetings.

Butler was convinced the Heat were the right fit due to their commitment to winning. Miami's mantra of being “the hardest-working, best-conditioned, most professional, unselfish, toughest, nastiest, most disliked team in the NBA” aligned with Butler’s personality.

“I think the culture that this organization is about, obviously the players that they have, the players they have had in the past, it fits who I am, what I’m about, how I think, how I go about what I go about every day,” Butler said earlier this month

Caron Butler: Tyler Herro Has 'A Little Bit' Of Jason Williams, Rex Chapman

Jul 13, 2019 12:57 AM

Caron Butler said that Miami Heat rookie Tyler Herro reminds him of Jason Williams and Rex Chapman.

‘He’s got a little bit of everything in him; I see a little bit of Jason Williams, I see a little bit of Rex Chapman, I see a little bit from an athletic standpoint, being explosive. He can score in so many ways. Going left or right, off the pick and roll, the catch and shoot. That’s what you call just an arsenal of ways to score the basketball," said Butler on NBA TV during a Las Vegas Summer League game.

Herro was drafted with the 13th pick in the 2019 NBA Draft. The Heat reportedly declined to include him in a trade package for Russell Westbrook.

Heat 'Lukewarm' On Trading For Chris Paul, Interested In Bradley Beal

Jul 13, 2019 12:50 AM

The Miami Heat are interested in trading for Bradley Beal and would consider taking back John Wall's contract in a potential deal, league sources told Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald.

Wall, who is coming off an Achilles injury, has four years and $171 million remaining on his contract.

Jackson also describes the team's interest in trading for Chris Paul as "lukewarm" as his contract would keep the Heat from having max cap space in 2021.

The Thunder are working with Paul and his agent to redirect the point guard to a third team.

Heat Could Be 'Possibility' For Chris Paul

Jul 12, 2019 1:30 AM

The Rockets and Thunder looked to add a third team for Paul during their trade negotiations, but will now leave discussions up to the Thunder and Paul's agent.

The Heat and Thunder were reportedly in trade discussions for Westbrook, but the Heat were unwillingly to part with young assets.

Thunder Seeking Multiple Young Assets From Heat For Russell Westbrook

Jul 11, 2019 1:14 PM

The Oklahoma City Thunder are seeking multiple young assets in exchange for Russell Westbrook, which the Miami Heat have refused at least to this point, a source tells Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald.

The Thunder have asked for Tyler Herro to be included. Herro was Miami's first round draft pick.

Oklahoma City asked the Heat to include two of Herro, Bam Adebayo and Justise Winslow during another point in the discussions this week. Miami is opposed to included Adebayo.

The Heat value Winslow but they could include him in a deal for Westbrook since his role would be diminished as a ballhandler.

Miami is willing to give the Thunder contracts that add up to slightly more that Westbrook’s $38.5 million salary next season.

Westbrook is due $172 million over the next four seasons. The Heat are unsure if any other teams are seriously pursuing Westbrook.

Russell Westbrook and the Miami Heat have mutual interest in a trade with the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Westbrook and the Thunder will work together on finding a trade scenario that benefits both parties. Westbrook would like to play for a team pursuing contention.

Westbrook and the Thunder signed a five-year, $205 million extension in September of 2017. Westbrook has four seasons and $170 million remaining on his trade.

Miami traded for Jimmy Butler this offseason.

Tim MacMahon of ESPN reported earlier today that the Rockets, Pistons, and Heat have interest in trading for Westbrook.

Wojnarowski reported yesterday that Westbrook could be traded before the start of this upcoming season
