Udonis Haslem On Jokic Brothers Coming To Miami: Don't Start Trouble

Nov 29, 2021 8:55 AM

Udonis Haslem already expressed his admiration for Nikola Jokic as a basketball player and the need to move on from the incident with Markieff Morris. However, that didn't stop Haslem from issuing a warning to Jokic's brothers.

"I keep hearing about the Jokic brothers buying tickets to come to the game. They better stay in line and don’t come down there and start trouble. Miami is my city. It’s my city," Haslem said.

After Morris delivered a hard foul to Jokic in a game in mid-November, Jokic shoved Morris to the ground. That altercation resulted in Jokic being suspended for a game, while Morris has missed several games due to whiplash. There was also some fallout between Jokic's brothers and the Morris twins on social media due to the incident.

Haslem said that's all the past and it's over with.

"We’re going to play a basketball game...That’s my city," said Haslem. "Don’t start nothing, won’t be nothing...Ain’t nobody messing with your brother. We come to play basketball."

Markieff Morris To Miss At Least 10 Games With Whiplash From Nikola Jokic Shove

Nov 21, 2021 8:29 AM

Markieff Morris is not with the Miami Heat on their four-game road trip, which means he will likely miss at least 10 games with what the team is listing as whiplash.

Morris suffered the injury after he was shoved from behind by Nikola Jokic. Jokic received a one-game suspension for the incident.

“He’s doing a lot better, but other than that, we don’t have a new update,” Spoelstra said on Saturday morning.

Spoelstra was asked about the league's punishment of Jokic in light of the seriousness of Morris' condition.

“Look, we’ve covered all of that while we were in Denver,” Spoelstra said Saturday. “It is disappointing. It was a very dangerous play and it’s really unfortunate. That’s the byproduct of those kind of dangerous actions.

“But he is feeling better. We’ll just continue to take it one day at a time.”

Heat Interested In John Wall If He Takes Buyout From Rockets

Nov 18, 2021 8:36 AM

In the unlikely event John Wall takes a buyout from the Houston Rockets, he might not have to wait long to find a new home. The Miami Heat have interest in the veteran point guard, should he become available.

It's been previously reported that Wall has no intention of giving up any of his remaining salary in a buyout from Houston. Wall's contract for this is worth $44.3 million. Wall also has a player option for $47.4 million for the 2022-23 season.

Miami's interest is notable, as it's been hard to find a fit for Wall on the point guard market. The Heat are locked in with Kyle Lowry as their starter, but their depth behind the veteran star is shaky. Tyler Herro is more comfortable in a scoring role vs a playmaking one. Gabe Vincent is the other traditional point guard on the roster, but he's a inexperienced younger player.

NBA In Advanced Stages Of Investigation On Tampering In Lonzo Ball, Kyle Lowry Deals

Nov 13, 2021 8:06 AM

The NBA's investigation into possible pre-free agency tampering on the sign-and-trade acquisitions of Lonzo Ball and Kyle Lowry are in their advanced stages.

The Chicago Bulls acquired Ball from the New Orleans Pelicans, while the Miami Heat acquired Lowry from the Toronto Raptors.

The NBA has conducted interviews with team executives and player agents while also gathering electronic messaging of front office executives of the four teams.

The NBA instituted more stringent penalties in these cases in 2019, including raising the maximum fine for teams to $10 million and including the possibility of suspending team executives, forfeiting draft picks and even the voiding of contracts.

The Milwaukee Bucks lost a 2022 second round pick for tampering charges with Bogdan Bogdanovic.

Jokic Brothers Reply To Marcus Morris On Twitter

Nov 9, 2021 1:42 PM

A "take" foul by Markieff Morris on Nikola Jokic led to a retaliatory shove and now a social media beef involving siblings of both parties.

"Waited till bro turned his back smh. NOTED," Marcus Morris tweeted Monday night with an emoji of a pen in hand.

That prompted Jokic's brothers, Strahinja and Nemanja, to open a Twitter account named "@JokicBrothers" to respond to Marcus Morris, The Denver Post reported.

The newly created account tweeted: "You should leave this the way it is instead of publicly threatening our brother! Your brother made a dirty play first. If you want to make a step further be sure we will be waiting for you !! Jokic Brothers"

Jokic is now facing a probable suspension.

Spoelstra said Morris was OK after the hard foul and was moving around in the locker room.

"This whole thing could have been a whole lot uglier if Markieff was actually facing Jokic," Spoelstra said. "The fact that he had his back turned and he made a play like that, blindsiding him, just a very dangerous play."

Nikola Jokic Could Be Suspended After Altercation with Markieff Morris

Nov 9, 2021 9:40 AM

With just over two minutes to play in the Denver Nuggets victory over the Miami Heat on Monday night, reigning MVP Nikola Jokic and Markieff Morris were both ejected following an altercation on the court.

Morris delivered a hard "take" foul to Jokic at midcourt. Jokic took offense to the unnecessarily hard foul and shoved Morris in the back. Morris was assessed a Flagrant 2 foul and ejected. Jokic was ejected for unsportsmanlike conduct.

Following the game, Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra was unhappy with Jokic's response to Morris' foul.

"That was a very dangerous and dirty play," Spoelstra said. "Keef took a foul, and it was one of those fastbreak take fouls, and he did with his shoulder. You might deem that maybe as a little bit more than just slapping somebody, but after watching it on film, it was a take foul. That's how I saw it. And the play after, that's just absolutely uncalled for."

For his part, Jokic felt bad about the way he reacted and how hard he shoved Morris.

"It's a stupid play," Jokic told said. "I feel bad. I am not supposed to react that way. ... I thought it was going to be a take foul. ... I think it was a dirty play. And I just needed to protect myself. I felt bad. I am not supposed to react that way, but I need to protect myself."

A further remorseful Jokic added: "I don't know who showed me the clip, and actually (Morris') head snapped back, so I feel really bad. ... It's a bad move."
