Heat Fined $25K For Violating Bench Decorum Rules

May 28, 2022 4:18 PM

The NBA fined the Miami Heat $25,000 for violating bench decorum rules. The violations took place during Miami's Game 6 victory over the Boston Celtics in the Eastern Conference Finals.

The league fined the Heat because "on multiple occasions, several players stood for an extended period in Miami's team bench area, stood away from the team bench, and were on, encroaching upon or entering the playing court during live action".

The Dallas Mavericks were fined multiple times this postseason for similar behavior. The league hit Dallas with escalating fines for each occasion they violated bench decorum rules.

Jimmy Butler: We're Going To Win The Next One Too

May 28, 2022 9:03 AM

Jimmy Butler was overflowing with confidence following his 47-point game in the Miami Heat's Game 7 win. So much so that Butler said his team is going to the NBA Finals.

In the on-court postgame interview with ESPN, Butler said, "We knew we were going to win this one. And we're going to win the next one too."

Butler, along with several teammates, mentioned that they felt disrespected going into Game 6. The Heat players felt like many gave them no chance to win and force a Game 7 back in Miami.

Udonis Haslem Says Draymond Green Broke 'Code' By Predicting Warriors Would Play Celtics

May 28, 2022 1:43 AM

Udonis Haslem accused Draymond Green of breaking the "code" after Green predicted the Golden State Warriors would face the Boston Celtics in the NBA Finals.

The Heat beat the Celtics 111-103 in Game 6 to force a Game 7.

“Draymond broke the code,” Haslem told Chris Haynes of Yahoo! Sports. “You ain’t supposed to say some s--- like that. That’s disrespectful. He know better than that.”

Green made his initial remarks on "Inside the NBA" after the Warriors defeated the Mavs in Game 5 on Thursday to win the series. Shaquille O’Neal asked Green who he wanted to face in the NBA Finals.

“I’m going to tell you who I think we’re going to play. We’re going to play Boston,” said Green. “That’s who we’re going to play.”

Other Heat players chimed in on Green's comments.

“I don’t know what part of the game is that,” said P.J. Tucker. “A player picking a team before they’re out. That’s crazy, bro.”

Game 7 between the Celtics and Heat takes place on Sunday.

Kyle Lowry Organized Trip To Bahamas For Heat Before Start Of Playoffs

May 26, 2022 11:16 AM

Kyle Lowry organized a trip to the Bahamas for a majority of the Miami Heat players between the end of the regular season and the start of the first round.

Players said the trip was a welcomed excursion for a mental break and bonding.

“Kyle met with me and told me what he wanted to do with the team. He had all the logistics figured out and I gave him my blessings,” Spoelstra told Yahoo Sports. “There are only about a handful of players like Dwyane Wade, LeBron James, Udonis Haslem who’ve played for this franchise that I know could have pulled off something like this. It shows you how special Kyle is and how much we really respect him as a person and a player.”

Lowry has struggled in the playoffs since injuring his hamstring, which has left the Heat with a decision between he and Gabe Vincent.

Heat Are First Top Playoff Seed Without All-NBA Representatives Since 2014-15 Hawks

May 26, 2022 1:08 AM

The Miami Heat are the first top playoff seed to not have any players voted onto All-NBA teams since the Atlanta Hawks in the 2014-15 season.

Jimmy Butler was the seventh-place forward, receiving zero First-Team votes, two Second-Team votes, and 26 Third-Team votes. Butler finished behind Pascal Siakam and LeBron James on the Third Team.

Bam Adebayo was voted as the fifth-place center, behind Nikola Jokic, Joel Embiid, Karl-Anthony Towns, and Rudy Gobert.

Butler and Adebayo were the only two Heat players who received All-NBA votes this season.

Duncan Robinson To Earn Final $10 Million Of Deal Only If Heat Win Title

May 26, 2022 12:28 AM

Duncan Robinson's five-year deal he signed last summer was significantly laden with incentives, according to Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.

In what was reported as a deal worth $90 million, the final $10 million are only guaranteed should the Heat win an NBA title over the next five years.

There are other metrics that Robinson needs to hit in a potential title-winning season, including averaging at least 25 minutes in 70 regular season appearances. Robinson would then have to appear in 75% of the Heat's playoff games during any title run while maintaining a 25 minute per game average.

Robinson, who has appeared in 11 of the Heat's 15 playoff games heading into Game 5, is only averaging 11.27 minutes per game during this current run.

Robinson's agent Jason Glushon has crafted several bonus-heavy deals for his clients, including Al Horford.

Horford's team option increases by $5 million should the Celtics make the NBA Finals, and increases to $12 million should they win the title.

Heat Did Not Have Players Test Positive For COVID After Game 4

May 25, 2022 9:56 AM

Sometime after Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Finals, a rumor began circulating that the Miami Heat had two players test positive for COVID. The rumor also said that those two players were unable to fly with the team back to Miami ahead of Game 5.

The Heat did not have any players test positive for COVID, at this point. A team broadcaster and a team therapist have tested positive, but no members for the coaching staff or roster have registered positive tests.

Miami has taken increased precautions around the team, including making masks mandatory for media interacting with team personnel and increased social distancing. As of gameday, the only Heat players on the injury report are ones that are known to be dealing with various injuries.
