The Sacramento Kings are monitoring the potential availability of Matisse Thybulle, sources told Marc Stein of Substack.

The team is reportedly looking for a defensive-minded option at the wing position.

Stein also adds that the Kings are unlikely to buy out Richaun Holmes due to contract complications. 

Joel Embiid was fined $25,000 for "making an obscene gesture on the playing court" during the Philadelphia 76ers' 137-133 win over the Brooklyn Nets on Wednesday.

The incident occurred after Embiid scored an and-1 midway through the third quarter of the game.

Embiid finished the game with 26 points, 10 rebounds, and 3 assists. 

The Philadelphia 76ers sit just above the NBA's luxury tax line, but don't expect them to finish there. The Sixers are currently approximately $1.2 million over the tax line but can get out of the tax by shedding a salary or two.

That ability to avoid paying the tax, has the expectation around the NBA that Philadelphia will shed the salaries for either Furkan Korkmaz or Jaden Springer. Moving either player without taking significant salary back would get the 76ers under the tax line. Neither Korkmaz nor Springer have been a regular rotation player this season in Philadelphia.

Korkmaz carries a cap/tax hit of $5 million for this season, with $5.4 million fully guaranteed to him next season. Springer is in Year 2 of his rookie scale contract at $2.1 million. He's on the books for $2.2 million in the third year of his rookie deal, with a team option for 2024-25 at $4 million.

Joel Embiid sat out the Philadelphia 76ers' 129-126 overtime win over the Indiana Pacers due to left foot soreness. 

Embiid injured his foot when he landed awkwardly on Jaxson Hayes on Monday night.

Embiid is considered day-to-day moving forward after he was examined by team doctors on Wednesday morning. The doctors didn't see any long-term issues. 

"He didn't talk about a lot of soreness right afterward," Doc Rivers said Wednesday before the game. "Then, later that night, he said his foot was bothering him and was sore, and then more the next day."

Joel Embiid and Luka Doncic have been named the NBA's Players of the Month for December.

Embiid averaged 35.4 points, 9.9 rebounds and 4.2 assists as the Philadelphia 76ers went 9-4 in December.

Doncic averaged 35.1 points, 9.3 assists and 8.5 rebounds as the Dallas Mavericks went 11-6.
