Bucks To Hire Justin Zanik As GM In Waiting

May 28, 2016 9:36 PM

The Milwaukee Bucks will hire Justin Zanik to eventually succeed John Hammond as general manager.

Zanik has been serving as assistant general manager of the Utah Jazz.

Zanik was previously a player agent and has since developed a strong reputation as a front office executive.

Hammond was part of the Bucks' ownership process that identified Zanik as a candidate and then recruited him.

A timetable on the succession plan is still unclear.

Jazz Plan $100M Renovation Of Vivint Arena

May 21, 2016 10:09 PM

The Utah Jazz plan on conducting a $100 million renovation of the Vivint Arena.

The NBA has privately suggested the Jazz start from scratch on building a new arena, but the Miller family believe a renovation is their best viable option.

“Ownership has been taking steps to ensure its world-class status and exploring options on how to invest in the facility that can be the home of the Utah Jazz and provide best-in-class guest experiences,” Frank Zang, Larry H. Miller Sports & Entertainment senior vice president of communications, told the Deseret News.

Jazz president Steve Starks said the organization has been studying the possibilities and has engaged in conversations about the arena’s future for years.

“Over the last year, we made the determination to take that discussion to the next level,” said Starks, who recently took over for retired team president Randy Rigby, in a phone interview with the Deseret News.

Quin Snyder Signs Multi-Year Extension With Jazz

May 6, 2016 12:15 PM

The Utah Jazz have agreed upon a long-term contract extension with Quin Snyder.

Snyder became head coach of the Jazz in 2014.

Snyder has yet to lead the Jazz to a playoff berth though they nearly finished with the eighth seed despite an injury filled season in 15-16.

“With this contract extension, we are declaring our confidence in Coach Snyder’s ability to continue to develop the Utah Jazz into a championship team,” said Gail Miller, owner of the Larry H. Miller Group of Companies. “The Miller family recognizes the significant progress made under his leadership and we are excited about the direction we are headed.”

“We have continued to take significant steps as a team under Quin’s direction,” said Jazz General Manager Dennis Lindsey. “His work ethic, basketball intelligence and ability to connect with and develop our players make him the ideal head coach of the Jazz.”
