Joe Ingles has suffered a season-ending torn ACL in his left knee, an MRI confirmed on Monday.

Ingles has no other structural damage to his knee.

Ingles is expected to undergo surgery as soon as he gets a range of motion back in his knee and will almost certainly miss the start of the 22-23 season.

Ingles was in his final year of his contract with the Utah Jazz and had been the subject of trade rumors.

Quin Snyder entered the NBA's COVID-19 protocols before Sunday's 126-106 loss by the Utah Jazz to the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Assistant coach Alex Jensen served as the Jazz's acting head coach during the absence of Snyder. Snyder is the 18th head coach to enter protocols this season.

Danuel House Jr. also entered the protocols on Sunday.

Ingles' knee buckled on a drive to the basket, causing him to crumple to the court in the second quarter. 

Ingles is in the final year of a contract that pays $13 million in 2021-22.

The Utah Jazz will sign Danuel House to a second standard 10-day contract, sources tell The Athletic.

House is with the Jazz on their current road trip and is expected to be available on Friday.

House has made a strong impression for the Jazz on his 10-day deals.

House was waived by the Houston Rockets in December and then played for the New York Knicks on a 10-day. 

The Utah Jazz are interested in trading for Robert Covington of the Portland Trail Blazers.

The Jazz have been targeted a wing defender. Covington is known as one of the better team wing defenders though he isn't a one-on-one stopper.

Jerami Grant is Utah's preferred target, but the Detroit Pistons have no interest in taking on Joe Ingles' $13 million contract with a future first round pick.

The Utah Jazz are seeking a wing defender on the trade market.

"They're seeing if they can find their own Aaron Gordon trade," a rival general manager said, referring to the move the Denver Nuggets made to pick up the versatile defender from the Orlando Magic before last season's trade deadline. "I'm not sure if they'll find it."

Joe Ingles is in the final season of his contract and is the most likely player to be traded if the Jazz make a significant move. Bojan Bogdanovic is two years younger than Ingles and has more trade value.

Despite the relative youth of Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert, the rest of Utah's core is older, which factors into how patient they can afford to be.

Jerami Grant is a gettable player who would fit, but the Jazz have limited draft picks to offer.

House was originally signed to a 10-day hardship deal during Utah's issues with COVID-19.

The Jazz were encouraged by House's play during the initial tenure.

The Utah Jazz have waived two-way forward Malik Fitts. 

Fitts (6-8, 230, St. Mary’s) appeared in seven games for Utah this season and averaged 0.9 points and 1.4 rebounds in 5.0 minutes per contest. 

The Utah Jazz are signing forward Zylan Cheatham to a 10-day hardship contract. Utah has several players in the health and safety protocols.

Cheatham recently completed a 10-day hardship deal with the Miami Heat but did not appear in a game. Cheatham played for the New Orleans Pelicans on a Two-Way deal in 2019-20.

In 13 games with the Birmingham Squadron of the G League, Cheatham has averaged 14.2 points, 10.4 rebounds and 1.2 steals per game.

The Utah Jazz blew a 22-point lead and allowed 78 second-half points in a loss to the Detroit Pistons on Monday. After the game, Donovan Mitchell expressed frustration with his team's play.

“We’re fooling ourselves if you think we can win a championship playing like this,” Mitchell said.

Mitchell went on criticize the team's poor defense with Rudy Gobert out in the health and safety protocols.

“We have to fix it. We did it. We’re capable. We did it against the Denver Nuggets. So, it’s not that we can’t. We’ve done it," Mitchell said. "When we don’t have Rudy Gobert back there, our intensity has to turn up. And this is from the first player through 17, or however many players are on our roster. We aren’t defending on a consistent basis, and it’s got to be fixed.”
