Pablo Prigioni Agrees To Deal With Clippers

Jul 22, 2015 11:22 PM

Free agent Pablo Prigioni has reached agreement on a contract with the Los Angeles Clippers, a league source told RealGM.

After the Houston Rockets sent Prigioni to the Denver Nuggets in the Ty Lawson trade, the 38-year-old veteran point guard cleared waivers on Wednesday. Prigioni then committed to a deal with the Clippers.

Prigioni has established himself as a reliable lead guard in three NBA seasons. He’ll give the Clippers a deft playmaker, able to utilize his ball handling and experience to run offensive sets.

Prigioni averaged 4.1 points and 2.6 assists in 17.9 minutes per game last season. He has averaged 3.8 points and three assists over his career, shooting 39.8 percent from 3-point range.

Doc Rivers and the Clippers’ front office now have signed two players, Josh Smith and Prigioni, who served as catalysts in the Houston Rockets’ 3-1 series comeback in May’s Western Conference semifinals.

Prigioni, a native of Argentina, had a decorated career overseas before breaking into the NBA in 2012 with the New York Knicks.

Josh Smith, Clippers Reach Agreement

Jul 16, 2015 5:18 PM

Josh Smith has reached agreement with the Los Angeles Clippers, league sources told RealGM.

Smith and the Clippers are finalizing a deal, but the talented veteran has chosen a winning and critical role on a championship contender. Several teams pursued Smith and held discussions with his agents, Wallace Prather and Brian Dyke.

In the end, Smith landed on a legitimate championship contender that has become a leading favorite in the Western Conference by re-signing DeAndre Jordan and Smith. Despite a tremendous finish to the 2014-15 season, there was never a concrete offer for him to return to the Rockets. The Clippers' front office pushed hard for Smith over the last week, and advanced in discussions to sign him Thursday.

Smith averaged 12.0 points, 6.0 rebounds and 2.6 assists in 25.5 minutes per game in 55 appearances with the Rockets.

Cuban: Never Thought I Had To Quarantine DeAndre

Jul 13, 2015 4:25 PM

Mark Cuban and the Dallas Mavericks secured an agreement with DeAndre Jordan during the first Friday of free agency.

Cuban, Chandler Parsons and Dan Fegan were with Jordan at his house in Pacific Palisades when the decision was made.

Afterwards, Fegan offered to charter him a private yacht to go anywhere he wanted for the weekend. Cuban offered to fly Jordan and his family to Dallas on a private jet to celebrate.

Jordan declined both offers saying he preferred to fly back with his family to his home in Houston.

"Never in a million years did I think I had to quarantine the guy," Cuban said.

John Lucas, a father figure to Jordan, could tell something was wrong when they met up on Sunday.

Jordan first reached out to Blake Griffin on Monday about the issue he was having with his decision.

Jordan started texting and communicating his misgivings through Snapchats and direct Twitter messages with dozens of people within 24 hours of landing back in Houston. Word that he was having second thoughts started spreading around NBA summer league in Orlando and Utah and it eventually got back to Doc Rivers.

Mark Cuban: DeAndre Jordan Never Responded To Calls, Texts

Jul 9, 2015 11:36 AM

When DeAndre Jordan was reconsidering his decision, he stayed completely out of contact from Mark Cuban.

The Dallas Mavericks secured a verbal commitment from Jordan on Friday, but he began to reconsider his decision with a wish to remain with the Los Angeles Clippers over the weekend.

Jordan ignored repeated phone calls and text messages from Chandler Parsons and Cuban.

"There will be a time when I detail everything I know regarding the last 48 hours," Cuban wrote in a Cyber Dust message to fans that never mentioned Jordan by name. "I don't think the time is right to say anything beyond the facts that he never responded to me at all yesterday. Not once. To this minute I have not heard anything from him since Tuesday night.

"More importantly, I specifically told [Wesley Matthews] that I would not hold him to his commitment if he wanted to go elsewhere. I can't print his exact response, but suffice to say he is excited to play for our Mavs:) Wes Matthews is exactly the kind of player we want in a Mavs uniform and our fans will love him

"He will be in Dallas today so if you see him give him an MFFL welcome."

Cuban strongly denied a report from Chris Broussard that he was driving around Houston trying to track down Jordan's home address.

DeAndre Jordan Signs Four-Year $87.7M Max Deal With Clippers

Jul 9, 2015 12:38 AM

DeAndre Jordan has indicated to the Los Angeles Clippers that he will back out of his deal with the Dallas Mavericks to remain with the team.

Jordan signed a four-year max contract worth $87.7 million with a player option for Year 4 in which he can become a free agent again in 2019.

The Clippers announced the deal shortly after midnight EST with the moratorium lifted.

Jordan reached out to Doc Rivers on Monday expressing regret on his decision and several members of the Clippers met with him in Houston on Wednesday.

The Mavericks fear Mark Cuban will not be able to get a meeting with Jordan. Tim MacMahon of ESPN reports Jordan won't even take a phone call from Cuban or Chandler Parsons.

According to Ken Berger of CBS Sports, the Mavericks have conceded that Jordan will not sign with them.

Moving on and "hitting reset button," source says.

The Clippers will stay with Jordan at his house until he signs his new contract.
