Clippers Interested In Tyson Chandler Sign-And-Trade If Jordan Goes To Mavs

Jun 30, 2015 8:13 PM

The Los Angeles Clippers remain hopeful of re-signing DeAndre Jordan, but they will try to agree upon a sign-and-trade agreement for Tyson Chandler should he leave for the Dallas Mavericks.

Jordan is reportedly seriously considering signing with the Mavericks.

Chandler played for several seasons with Chris Paul when they were teammates with New Orleans.

The Clippers are capped out and have no other viable way of replacing Jordan's production other than a sign-and-trade.

DeAndre Jordan Seeking 3+1 Contract, Bigger Role On Offense

Jun 30, 2015 1:34 PM

DeAndre Jordan is seeking a four-year deal in free agency that includes an opt out after three seasons.

Seeking a shorter deal takes away the Los Angeles Clippers' advantage of being able to offer a fifth season.

The Clippers could offer Jordan a deal that includes a fifth year worth $27 million.

Jordan also wants a bigger role on offense as he's grown tired of being third in their pecking order behind Chris Paul and Blake Griffin.

Jordan will meet with the Los Angeles Lakers, Dallas Mavericks, New York Knicks and the Clippers once free agency begins.

A source close to the situation told ESPN on Tuesday that it's "50/50" between the Clippers and Mavericks.

Mavericks Considered Biggest Threat To Sign DeAndre Jordan Away From Clippers

Jun 29, 2015 1:36 AM

The Dallas Mavericks are widely considered the team most likely to persuade DeAndre Jordan to leave the Los Angeles Clippers this offseason.

The New York Knicks and Los Angeles Lakers also figure to express interest in Jordan.

Chandler Parsons, who regards himself to be Dallas' lead recruiter on free agent matters, visited Jordan in Houston last weekend and traveled to Los Angeles immediately after Thursday's draft to spend more time with the big man.

Jordan and Parsons are both represented by Dan Fegan.

If the Mavs are unsuccessful recruiting Jordan, sources say, they will attempt to re-sign veteran center Tyson Chandler.

Caron Butler Expected To Field Interest From Bulls, Clippers, Spurs, Lakers, Knicks

Jun 28, 2015 4:24 PM

After his release from the Milwaukee Bucks before July 1, Caron Butler has emerged as a candidate for the Chicago Bulls, Los Angeles Clippers and San Antonio Spurs, a league source told RealGM.

The Lakers and New York Knicks also expect to make an inquiry on Butler, a 13-year NBA veteran who has averaged 14.3 points and 5.1 rebounds for his career.

Each of the contending teams -- Bulls, Clippers and Spurs -- interested in Butler will have a wing need this offseason, and the 35-year-old has either played for or considered each in the past.

Butler scored 5.9 points while shooting 37.9 percent from three-point range in 78 games last season with the Detroit Pistons.

The Bucks plan to waive Butler and Shawne Williams before their guarantee dates on June 30, barring an unexpected deal, sources told RealGM.

Butler has played for eight different teams over his 13 seasons.

Celtics To Pursue Paul Pierce

Jun 24, 2015 3:57 PM

The Boston Celtics plan on pursuing Paul Pierce if they can also acquire Kevin Love this offseason.

Pierce was traded by the Celtics to the Brooklyn Nets in 2013 and he spent last season with the Washington Wizards. The Los Angeles Clippers are currently considered the frontrunners to sign Pierce.

Gary Washburn of the Boston Globe reports a return of Pierce to the Celtics could be a prelude to a front office position with the team and that he eventually wants to become a general manager.

Pierce has a player option with the Wizards worth $5.5 million.

The Clippers will likely only be able to offer Pierce the mini-midlevel exception of $3.37 million.

Ballmer: Clippers' Name 'Stands For A Team Overcoming Difficulty'

Jun 18, 2015 1:32 PM

The Los Angeles Clippers have a new logo to begin the second season of Steve Ballmer's ownership, but they decided to keep the name unchanged.

"I think the name has actually developed value," said Ballmer. "It’s a name that stands for a team overcoming difficulty."

The new logo has received criticism on social media, which took the Clippers two months to create.

"Many people really don’t like change in this world, they really don’t."

Hornets Tried To Trade Stephenson To Clippers During Season

Jun 16, 2015 10:54 AM

The Charlotte Hornets tried to execute a similar Lance Stephenson trade with the Los Angeles Clippers last season before Doc Rivers backed out.

The Clippers traded Spencer Hawes and Matt Barnes to the Hornets for Stephenson on Monday.

In terms of locker room and on-court chemistry, the deal is a risky one for the Clippers. But the deal is actually low-risk financially because the final year of Stephenson's three-year, $27 million contract is a team option.

Hawes went to Cabo with Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan after the season. Barnes and Chris Paul got to be good friends after Barnes' twins and Paul's son became inseparable during and after games.

Lance Stephenson Traded To Clippers

Jun 15, 2015 9:10 PM

The Los Angeles Clippers have traded for Lance Stephenson, agreeing to send Spencer Hawes and Matt Barnes to the Charlotte Hornets.

Stephenson has two years left on his contract, but the 2016-17 season is a team option of $9.4 million.

Hawes has three years and $17 million-plus left on a free-agent deal that he signed in summer 2014.

The Hornets will likely buy out Barnes' contract before July 1, when they would only have to pay him $1 million of the $3.5 million owed him.
