Kawhi Leonard To Sit Out Wednesday Game Versus Jazz, Will Play Thursday Against Spurs

Oct 30, 2019 8:19 PM

Kawhi Leonard will sit out the Los Angeles Clippers' Wednesday night game against the Utah Jazz due to load management.

Leonard will play Thursday night against the Spurs.

Doc Rivers said that the team will determine on a "case-by-case" basis if and when Leonard rests during back to back games.

Rivers added that Leonard "has never felt better."

"Our goal is to have him playing and being fresh all year, and we're doing that so far. I keep saying this: He's not the only guy we're having those conversations with, and every team is doing it. We're just trying to do it, I don't know, I'm trying to say more efficiently than others," added Rivers.

Patrick Beverley: Warriors Cheated Long Enough, Back To Reality

Oct 25, 2019 11:24 AM

Patrick Beverley was talking trash to staff works of Chase Center in the Los Angeles Clippers' locker room after their blowout win of the Golden State Warriors.

Beverley and Kevin Durant had several battles during their first round series last season in which the Warriors leaned heavily on their now departed two-time Finals MVP.

“Y’all a little different without KD, I see,” Beverley said. “Uh-huh, y’all cheated long enough. It’s OK. Y’all had a good run. Back to reality.”

NBA Has Mixed Success With 2019 Opening Night TV Ratings

Oct 23, 2019 9:40 PM

The Toronto Raptors' win over the New Orleans Pelicans averaged a 1.4 rating and 2.25 million viewers, which makes it the smallest Opening Night audience (in the U.S.) since 2007 (Blazers-Spurs: 1.94M; Rockets-Lakers: 2.05M).

The rating excludes the Canadian audience.

The Los Angeles Clippers' win over the Los Angeles Lakers, however, averaged a 2.2 rating and 3.58 million viewers on TNT, which ranks third among Opening Night games since 2013. The 2017 openers — Celtics-Cavaliers (3.3, 5.60M) and Rockets-Warriors (2.6, 4.25M) — hold the top spots.

The NBA also competed against the World Series on their opening night for the first time since 2016.

Anthony Davis Feels like He 'Overstepped Boundaries' Recruiting Kawhi Leonard

Oct 23, 2019 4:42 PM

LeBron James thought the Los Angeles Lakers would sign Kawhi Leonard this past offseason "because I'm a positive guy", but they lost out to the Los Angeles Clippers.

"You ask me was I getting excited about it? I don't get too excited until things actually happen, but I thought we had a chance," James said. "That's all you can ask for. We put ourselves in position to have a chance to get [Leonard]. When he went to the Clippers, I thought that was just as cool. It was great for our league, and he had to do what was best for him. And we all respect that."

James was asked what ultimately swayed Leonard to sign with the Clippers.

"Man, how the hell can I answer that? I don't f---ing know," James said with an incredulous grin. "I don't know. I don't know. Ask Kawhi."

Antony Davis also discussed his role trying to recruit Leonard.

"It was fun just to go through it, for me, with a player like Kawhi, trying to recruit him to come here. It was fun," Davis said. "We had one conversation, and I think he came out with a statement, or his uncle or something ... somebody said he don't really like all the recruitment and all that stuff, so I felt like I overstepped my boundaries.

"But it was a fun process. I would do it all over."

No Minutes Restrictions For Kawhi Leonard Against Lakers

Oct 22, 2019 2:31 AM

Kawhi Leonard will not have any minutes restrictions when the Los Angeles Clippers play the Los Angeles Lakers in the NBA regular season opener, according to Doc Rivers.

Leonard was limited to 60 games last season with the Raptors due to "load management."

"Just here to help win games. Try to build a culture of winning and making everybody know that we're playing 'til April [focused on regular season first and then postseason] and that's pretty much it. Just trying to be the smartest team every night and try to build on something," said Leonard of his expectations for the upcoming season.
