Joakim Noah and the New York Knicks are moving towards a buyout.
The two sides have long been expected to part ways this offseason.
Several teams are monitoring Noah's entrance in free agency.
Noah has $37.8 million remaining on his contract after signing a four-year, $72 million deal in 2016.
Jimmy Butler is most interested in a trade to the Los Angeles Clippers, according to sources.
Butler likes the Clippers' odds of signing a second superstar during the 2019 offseason as they have two max contract slots. Sources say the Clippers are emerging as the frontrunner to sign Kawhi Leonard.
Butler informed Tom Thibodeau he would prefer a trade and plans to leave in free agency. Butler has also prioritized the New York Knicks over the Brooklyn Nets.
Butler is downplaying his fractured relationship with Towns as a reason for wanting a trade, league sources said.

Jimmy Butler has requested a trade from the Minnesota Timberwolves.
The Wolves acquired Butler on draft night in 2017 from the Chicago Bulls.
Butler informed Tom Thibodeau he has no intention of signing a long-term contract with the Wolves as a free agent in 2019.
Butler had hoped the Wolves would sign him to a renegotiate and extension of his contract this offseason, but that would have required the team to cut an enormous amount of salary. The Wolves could only offer a four-year, $110 million extension based on their current cap situation, and Butler understandably turned that down as he could sign a far more lucrative deal next offseason.
According to Adrian Wojnarowski, Butler would prefer a trade to the Brooklyn Nets, Los Angeles Clippers or New York Knicks. All three teams have cap space to sign Butler outright next offseason as a free agent. Wojnarowski also reports Thibodeau has no interest in dealing Butler for now.
