Nets, Thunder Close To Brook Lopez For Reggie Jackson Trade

Feb 19, 2015 12:43 PM

The Brooklyn Nets are close to trading Brook Lopez to the Oklahoma City Thunder in a package for Reggie Jackson.

The Nets, however, need to believe they will be able to convince Jackson to re-sign in the offseason. Jackson will be a restricted free agent. Jackson turned down a four-year, $48 million extension with the Thunder.

The Thunder have had interest in Lopez dating back to the 2008 NBA Draft.

The Thunder would include Kendrick Perkins and Perry Jones as part of the package.

The deal could also be expanded to send Jarrett Jack to the Washington Wizards and Kevin Garnett to the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Wizards, Heat Interested In Trade For Jameer Nelson

Feb 12, 2015 7:14 PM

The Washington Wizards and Miami Heat have explored trade talks with the Denver Nuggets on Jameer Nelson, sources tell RealGM.

No deal is imminent, and Nelson has grown comfortable with his situation in Denver. The veteran point guard is currently dealing with an Achilles injury and hopes to return to the lineup after the NBA All-Star break.

The Cleveland Cavaliers had interest in Nelson when the Boston Celtics were offering him in trade scenarios, but not since.

Nelson began the season with the Dallas Mavericks.

Warriors, Hawks, Blazers In Top-10 On Both Offense, Defense

Feb 12, 2015 12:53 PM

The Golden State Warriors, Atlanta Hawks and Portland Trail Blazers enter the All-Star break as the only three teams in the NBA ranked in the top-10 in both offense and defense.

Fourteen other teams are in the top-10 in either offensive or defensive efficiency.

The Chicago Bulls ranked second in defensive efficiency last season and 28th on offense, but they are currently 9th on offense and just 13th on defense.

Teams that contend for a championship in the NBA typically are in the top-10 in both categories, or are particularly dominant on one end of the floor.

The current top-10 in efficiency differential consists of the Warriors, Hawks, Clippers, Mavericks, Blazers, Grizzlies, Raptors, Spurs, Rockets and Cavaliers.

The old/young distinction is based on the average age of players who play 15 or more minutes per game.

John Wall Prefers Playmaker With Open Wizards' Roster Spot

Feb 11, 2015 12:51 PM

John Wall offered his opinion on what the Washinton Wizards should do with their open roster spot.

“I think somebody, another guy that can create off the bench,” Wall said. “A guy that can create and put the ball on the floor and make plays for others. That’s probably the only thing we’re missing in the second unit. Andre’s [Miller] probably the best player that suits itself for creating and making plays for somebody in the second unit. I think sometimes we just get stagnant.”

Will Bynum is a player that matches Wall's criteria. Bynum is currently playing in China and should be available in March.

Wall was also asked about Bynum specifically.

“I like his game, I like the things he can do,” Wall said. “He can run the team, he can make shots, he can get into the paint. He just plays with the competitive nature I’ve seen playing against him when he was with the Pistons.”

Ray Allen To Make Decision Following All-Star Weekend

Feb 9, 2015 1:33 PM

Ray Allen is ready to decide his NBA future following All-Star Weekend.

Allen hasn't decided whether he wants to return for a 19th season, but he's been staying in shape and doing on-court work.

Allen has also remained in contract with several teams including the Washington Wizards, Cleveland Cavaliers, Golden State Warriors, San Antonio Spurs, Miami Heat, Los Angeles Clippers and Atlanta Hawks.

The Cavs have left a roster spot open for the past month, ostensibly saving it for Allen.

The Hawks recently joined the list of clubs interested in Allen and could offer him more playing time than the Cavaliers.

Allen's potential role with a team is expected to be a deciding factor.
