76ers Interested In Jordan Clarkson

Jun 30, 2016 7:48 PM

The Philadelphia 76ers have interested in Jordan Clarkson in free agency.

Clarkson is a restricted free agent, which gives the Los Angeles Lakers the ability to match.

Because Clarkson is under the Arenas provision, the 76ers can sign him to a deal that is heavily backloaded.

The Lakers would presumably be fine matching that type of deal because it would help them maximize their cap space for 2017.

Raptors Have Approached 76ers On Trade For Nerlens Noel

Jun 29, 2016 10:21 PM

The Toronto Raptors will have to trade away at least one big contract to have any hope of re-signing both DeMar DeRozan and Bismack Biyombo.

Toronto has approached the Philadelphia 76ers about sending out a rotation player such as Terrence Ross and other add-ons for Nerlens Noel. The thought is that Noel would be able to fill the backup center role that Biyombo played.

Noel is eligible for a contract extension this offseason and the 76ers have been trying to balance out their roster and their glut of centers.

Talks have yet to gain much traction to date.

Report: Adam Silver May Have Pressured 76ers Into Regime Change

Jun 29, 2016 10:58 AM

Adam Silver admitted to reaching out to Jerry Colangelo on behalf of the owners of the Philadelphia 76ers in December. Colangelo was ultimately hired as chairman of the 76ers, which led to Bryan Colangelo becoming general manager in April after Sam Hinkie stepped down.

ESPN reports that interviews with more than a dozen GMs, other executives and agents suggests that Silver's "involvement in that regime change may have been greater than he let on.

"Some sources claim Philly's ownership group had grown impatient with Hinkie's lack of a clear timetable to be competitive and had been worn down by constant criticism. Others suggest Silver pressured the 76ers into making a change.

"The league has never hidden its distaste for tanking, and sources around the NBA say Silver grew more irritated after the Sixers lost their first 18 games last fall and (Jahlil) Okafor was involved in multiple off-court incidents. Ultimately, those sources say, it is likely that a combination of all those factors led to Jerry Colangelo's hiring."

According to sources, Silver was "scared" by the "glorification of the Process." Silver attempted to reform the lottery as a deterrent for teams to tank as the 76ers did under Hinkie.

Crabbe was the 31st overall pick in the 2013 NBA Draft out of Cal.

Crabbe had a breakout 15-16 season, scoring 14.2 points per 36 minutes with a True Shooting Percentage of .572 in 26.0 minutes per game.

76ers Have Serious Interest In Signing Harrison Barnes

Jun 28, 2016 4:29 PM

The Philadelphia 76ers have serious interest in signing Harrison Barnes when free agency opens.

Barnes will be a restricted free agent, giving the Golden State Warriors matching rights.

Barnes would prefer to re-sign with the Warriors by all accounts though they're exploring other options including Kevin Durant.

The 76ers could pair Barnes with Ben Simmons at the forward positions.

Barnes rejected a four-year, $64 million extension offer from the Warriors last fall.
