76ers, Heat, Clippers Interested In Trading For Kyle Lowry

Feb 25, 2021 10:01 AM

The Philadelphia 76ers, Miami Heat and Los Angeles Clippers have interest in trading Kyle Lowry, sources tell Keith Pompey of the Philadelphia Inquirer.

A source says Lowry's preference is to play for the 76ers and that they might be able to get a deal done with the Toronto Raptors.

Lowry is on an expiring contract after nine seasons with the Raptors.

According to a source, the Raptors would like to reward Lowry for his years of service with the team by giving him an opportunity to compete for another title.

Lowry is a native of Philadelphia and would give the 76ers a perimeter playmaker.

The Clippers, meanwhile, would allow Lowry to reunite with Kawhi Leonard and Serge Ibaka. Lowry is also close friends with Ty Lue and Chauncey Billups.

In free agency, Lowry will seek a contract of $60 million over two years.

76ers Continue To Seek Major Trade To Boost Title Odds

Feb 22, 2021 8:14 AM

The Philadelphia 76ers pursued a trade for James Harden in January before he was eventually dealt to the Brooklyn Nets and sources tell Kevin O'Connor of The Ringer they continue to seek "major moves to increase its championship odds."

O'Connor mentions Kyle Lowry as a player to monitor. Lowry is in the final season of his current contract with the Toronto Raptors, is a native of Philadelphia and would give the 76ers a veteran perimeter shot-creator.

Daryl Morey has been consistent during his career of doing nearly everything possible to increase his team's title odds if they are amongst the handful of teams with a shot of winning it.

Joel Embiid Says He's 'Unguardable' After 50-Point Career-High

Feb 20, 2021 12:24 PM

Joel Embiid scored a career-high 50 points in the Philadelphia 76ers' 112-105 win over the Chicago Bulls.

Embiid credited a new mentality for his play this season, saying that he's focused on dominating every minute he's on the floor.

"It just feels like the game has slowed down for me. I'll say the only difference this year from last year is not so much about coaching; it's more about me being willing to just dominate every single minute I'm on the floor ...  it's not about coaching, it's about me turning a corner and being willing to do it every single night on defense and on offense." said Embiid after the game.

Embiid is averaging 30.5 points and 11 rebounds this season.

The center added that his range of offensive skills makes him unguardable.

"That's what makes me unguardable. If you're going to crowd me, I'm going to find my way to the free throw line or I'm going to end up at the basket. If you back up on me, I've got the hesi -- that hesitation shot -- and my favorite, just pull-up shot. [That's] just an easy shot I always get in the post.

"So it's hard [to stop me] when you've got that much. And also off the dribble just dribbling the ball and just making things happen. I've been adding a lot to my game, and it's been working well."

76ers Could Try To Trade For Nemanja Bjelica

Feb 12, 2021 1:22 PM

The Philadelphia 76ers have interest in trading for Nemanja Bjelica, who is no longer in the rotation of Luke Walton with the Sacramento Kings. Bjelica would give the 76ers a big man who can stretch the floor.

The Kings are considered "highly likely" to trade Bjelica before the deadline.

Bjelica backed out of a one-year, $4.4 million deal with the 76ers during the 2018 offseason with the intent of signing in Europe, but he ultimately signed with the Kings.
