Paul Millsap remains one of the most prominent free agents on the market and has received interest from a number of teams.
The Brooklyn Nets, Golden State Warriors, Chicago Bulls and Los Angeles Clippers are all interested in Millsap.
Millsap spent the past four seasons with the Denver Nuggets and is coming off a one-year, $10 million deal.
Paul Millsap remains one of the most prominent free agents unsigned on the market.
Millsap has drawn interest from the Golden State Warriors, Atlanta Hawks, New Orleans Pelicans, Philadelphia 76ers and Minnesota Timberwolves. The Warriors have been the team most often linked with Millsap, but no deal with any team has come close to the finish line.
"I think he just wants to know he's the third big or the reserve, small-ball 5 for a good team," one assistant general manager told B/R.
Denver could feasibly bring him back with just under $3.5 million in wiggle room below the tax, but it seems Millsap is looking for a richer payday.
Millsap's conversations with teams this summer have revolved around salary figures at or near the $5.9 million tax-payer mid-level exception.
"I think he's gonna be a minimum or a midseason guy," said one veteran front office voice. "What's the rush? The money wouldn't get much better, and he can just pick his team. What if New Orleans is really good come January? What happens when some guy gets hurt, and that team starts scrambling for a replacement? He can pick his spot."
The Golden State Warriors and Brooklyn Nets are both rumored to be interested in signing Paul Millsap. The veteran big man is an unrestricted free agent after playing the last four seasons with the Denver Nuggets.
Millsap joined Denver in 2017 after four seasons with the Atlanta Hawks. Millsap was an All-Star for all four years with the Hawks.
In 2020-21, Millsap averaged 8.9 points and 4.7 in 56 games (36 starts) with the Nuggets. Millsap has indicated he intents to play a 16th NBA season and would like to land with a Finals contender.
In a taped conversation with Draymond Green, Kevin Durant shed some light on his departure from the Golden State Warriors for the Brooklyn Nets. Green asked Durant, for his own personal sanity, if their argument during a game against the LA Clippers in 2018 drove Durant to leave the Warriors.
Durant answered: "It wasn't the argument. It was the way everybody, Steve Kerr, (Warriors head coach) acted like it didn't happen. Bob Myers (Warriors General Manager) then tried to just discipline you and think that that would put the mask over everything."
Durant went on to explain that he thought it was the first time Golden State had gone through something like that. He also said he would have preferred that the players deal with it and then go about finishing their task of trying to win a championship. Durant stated that after the incident, he felt like everything around the Warriors felt weird.
Green said when the Warriors told him that he would need to apologize to Durant, that he was going to talk to Durant, but that he would keep it between the two of them. Green related that the next day, team officials asked him if he was ready to apologize and he told them that they were going to cause issues for the team. When the Warriors chose to suspend Green, he laughed and said he knew then that the team would have issues. Green then agreed with Durant that things weren't the same after the way the aftermath of the argument was handled.
Green was ultimately suspended without pay for one game. Durant left the Warriors for the Nets that offseason.

The Golden State Warriors will not release Damion Lee before his contract becomes guaranteed at $500,000 on Sunday.
Bob Myers will likely leave the 15th vacancy for a training camp battle to include Michael Mulder, Gary Payton II and others.
Lee averaged 6.5 points, 3.2 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 18.9 minutes in 57 games last season for the Warriors.
Lee is the brother-in-law of Stephen Curry.
The Golden State Warriors, San Antonio Spurs and Minnesota Timberwolves are among the teams who have discussed a trade for Ben Simmons with varying degrees of interest, sources tell Zach Lowe of ESPN.
The 76ers haven't progressed far with a trade of Simmons as they likely view him as their path to a trade for Damian Lillard.
Simmons appears to be the only All-Star player truly available via trade as Lillard and Bradley Beal haven't signaled a preference to be dealt.
Simmons is a two-time All-NBA Defensive First Team selection and three-time All-Star. Last season, Simmons averaged 14.3 points, 7.2 rebounds and 6.9 assists in 32.4 minutes per game.
Nico Mannion has signed with Virtus Bologna in Italy.
Mannion played for the Golden State Warriors last season after he was a second round pick out of Arizona.
The Warriors will retain Mannion's NBA rights. Bill Duffy indicated to Jordan Schultz of ESPN that Mannion could potentially return to the NBA in a year or two.
