Nets Considered Favorites To Sign Bryn Forbes; Bulls, Cavs, Mavs, Pelicans Also Interested

Jul 31, 2021 4:05 PM

Bryn Forbes is a free agent after a successful season with the Milwaukee Bucks. Forbes is one of the better three-point shooters in the NBA though he has defensive limitations on the other end of the floor.

The Brooklyn Nets are believed to be the leading candidate to sign Forbes, according to sources that spoke with Bleacher Report.

The Chicago Bulls, Cleveland Cavaliers, Dallas Mavericks and New Orleans Pelicans will also pursue Forbes.

Forbes didn't play in the final three games of The Finals as Mike Budenholzer went with Jeff Teague instead.

Bobby Portis Declines Player Option With Bucks

Jul 31, 2021 3:10 PM

Bobby Portis has declined to exercise his 2021-22 player option with the Milwaukee Bucks. Portis will now become an unrestricted free agent.

Portis is leaving $3.8 million on the table with Milwaukee in hopes of a bigger deal in free agency. Due to their mounting team salary, the Bucks are limited to giving Portis the Taxpayer Mid-Level exception, in terms of a pay raise. That's projected to star at $5.9 million for 2021-22.

Portis averaged 11.4 points, and 7.1 rebounds in just 20.8 minutes per game. His shooting splits were excellent, as Portis hit 53.3% overall and 47.1% on three-pointers.

After a solid regular season as Milwaukee's primary big man off the bench, Portis had a terrific run in the playoffs. Portis capped this run with 16 points in the Bucks title-clinching win in Game 6 of the NBA Finals.

For the regular season, Forbes averaged 10 points in 19 minutes a game. Forbes signed a two-year deal with the Bucks last offseason with a player option for 21-22.

Giannis: The Pass From Jrue Holiday 'Was All About Trust'

Jul 18, 2021 10:13 AM

With the Milwaukee Bucks up one point in the final 30 seconds of Game 5, Jrue Holiday stole the ball from Devin Booker to begin a fastbreak.

"I guess I was just in the right place at the right time," Holiday said.

After taking four dribbles, Holiday lobbed a perfect alley-oop to Giannis Antetokounmpo who dunked over Chris Paul.

"The pass was all about trust," Antetokounmpo said. "Obviously, he could have pulled the ball out, let the clock run and get a good shot. But he trusted me, threw the ball out there, and we were able to get a bucket."

Chris Paul Takes Blame For 'Bad Decision-Making' In Game 4

Jul 15, 2021 9:28 AM

The Phoenix Suns had 17 turnovers in their Game 4 loss, compared to just five for the Milwaukee Bucks. Paul turned the ball over five times, including one at the end of the game.

"It was me," Paul said. "I had five of them. It was bad decision-making."

The Suns had 19 fewer shot attempts due to turnovers and the offensive rebounds secured by Milwaukee.

"They got a significant amount more shots than us, so for me I got to take care of the ball," Paul continued. "We got 17 turnovers, we shoot the ball too well not to have those opportunities to score."

"The turnovers just crushed us tonight," Monty Williams said of his team's miscues. "When you have that kind of a lead in the fourth, if we can just hold on to the ball and get good possessions, you feel like you can at least hold it there. ... We certainly had a lot of self-inflicted stuff tonight."
