The Milwaukee Bucks have waived Elijah Bryant.
Bryant signed a multi-year contract with the Bucks in May and appeared in one regular season game. Bryant went undrafted out of BYU in 2018.
The Milwaukee Bucks waived forward Mamadi Diakite. Diakite's contract was partially guaranteed for $100,000. That amount will go on the Bucks cap sheet, unless Diakite is claimed off waivers.
Diakite started his rookie season with Milwaukee on a Two-Way contract. His deal was converted to a standard contract in late-April.
In 14 NBA appearances (one start), Diakite averaged 3.1 points and 2.4 rebounds in 10.1 minutes per game. In the G League Bubble, Diakite averaged 18.5 points, 10.3 rebounds and 2.1 blocks per game for the Lakeland Magic. The Bucks did not field a G League team during the 2020-21 season.
The Bucks also signed Javin DeLaurier to a training camp contract. DeLaurier went undrafted out of Duke at the 2020 NBA Draft. He then attended training camp with the Charlotte Hornets before playing for the Greensboro Swarm in the G League Bubble. DeLaurier also spent part of the 2020-21 season playing professionally in Canada for the Niagara River Lions.
J.J. Redick announced his retirement from basketball on his The Old Man and the Three show. Redick played in the NBA for 15 seasons.
Redick spent the first six-and-a-half years of his career with the Orlando Magic. He was traded to the Milwaukee Bucks during the 2012-13 season. Redick then played the next four years with the LA Clippers, before moving on to the Philadelphia 76ers for two seasons. Redick then signed with the New Orleans Pelicans in 2019. He was traded to the Dallas Mavericks at the 2021 trade deadline.
Over 940 regular season games, Redick averaged 12.8 points per game. Redick was one of the NBA's most-feared shooters, as he shot 41.5% from behind the arc for his career. In the regular season, Redick buried 1,950 three-pointers.
During his career, Redick's teams made the playoffs in 14-of-15 seasons. In 110 postseason games, Redick averaged 10.9 points and shot 37.1% on three-pointers.
The Milwaukee Bucks have named Lisa Byington as the team's new television play-by-play announcer on Bally Sports Wisconsin.
Byington will become the the first woman to handle full-time TV play-by-play duties for a major men's professional sports team.
Byington replaces longtime Bucks announcer Jim Paschke.
Byington, who previously did play-by-play for the Women's World Cup on Fox in 2019, became the first woman to call NCAA men's basketball tournament games in March as part of the CBS/Turner Sports coverage.
The Milwaukee Bucks will sign third-year guard Justin Robinson to a Two-Way contract. 2021 draftee Sandro Mamukelashvili currently fills the Bucks other Two-Way spot.
Robinson has played in nine NBA games in each of the last two seasons with the Washington Wizards and Oklahoma City Thunder. In those 18 games, he's averaged just 7.6 minutes and 1.9 points per game.
Robinson played with the Delaware Blue Coats in the G-League bubble in 2021. He averaged 15.5 points, 3.4 rebounds, 6.0 assists and 1.7 steals over 13 games (all starts). The 6'1'' point guard from Virginia Tech will likely split time between the Bucks and the Wisconsin Herd of the G-League during the 2021-22 season.
This signing brings Milwaukee's roster to 19 players.
The Milwaukee Bucks have signed guard Tremont Waters to an Exhibit 10 deal. This is a non-guaranteed contract for Waters that can be converted to a Two-Way deal. Milwaukee can also gain Affiliate Player rights for Waters, should he join the Wisconsin Herd of the G-League if Waters is waived following the preseason.
Waters spent the first two seasons of his NBA career on Two-Way contracts with the Boston Celtics. Waters played in 37 total NBA games (four starts) in 2019-20 and 2020-21. In the NBA, Waters averaged 3.8 points and 2.1 assists per game.
With the then Maine Red Claws (now Maine Celtics), Waters won G-League Rookie of the Year in 2019-20. He averaged 18 points, 7.3 assists and 3.2 rebounds per game. Waters will compete for a backup point guard spot with the Bucks behind Jrue Holiday and George Hill.
