Warriors, Kings To Play Preseason Game In Seattle

Feb 21, 2018 6:27 PM

The Golden State Warriors and Sacramento Kings have scheduled a preseason game in Seattle next season on Oct. 6th.

The NBA hasn't played a game in Seattle since the Sonics relocated to Oklahoma City in 2008.

Kevin Durant began his career in Seattle with the Sonics, while the Kings nearly relocated to Seattle in 2013.

The contract to play the game in Seattle has yet to be completed.

The Warriors have also recently played a preseason game in Vancouver.

Raptors Not Interested In Signing Vince Carter This Season

Feb 21, 2018 10:43 AM

The Toronto Raptors are unlikely to sign Vince Carter this season, according to Josh Lewenberg of TSN.

“After speaking with a few team sources, I can confirm that they’ve had internal dialogue and debate about the idea of bringing Vince Carter back … but they’ve decided now is not the right time,” Lewenberg said. “And I think the consensus seems to be there’s so much going on right now, and they want this season to be about this team, their accomplishments and their playoff push and not the sideshow that I think would come with a Vince Carter return.”

Carter was traded by the Raptors to the Nets in 2004.

The Kings have been willing to buyout Carter if that becomes his preference.

Sacramento To Submit Bid For NBA All-Star Game

Feb 16, 2018 9:39 AM

The Sacramento Kings are finalizing a bid for the NBA All-Star Game in either 2022 or 2023.

Vivek Ranadive and the city of Sacramento will present its bid on Feb. 23.

“Golden 1 Center has been a great spark for the city and building on that momentum, we have assembled an unprecedented plan to host a global celebration of basketball at the All-Star Game in Sacramento,” Ranadive said in a written statement.

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver told The Sacramento Bee in October 2016 that the league was determined to bring the All-Star Game to Sacramento. The biggest issue impacting Sacramento, and several other NBA cities, is the lack of hotel rooms.

The 250-room Sawyer Hotel recently opened next to Golden 1 Center, the city has plans for a 350-room hotel next to the Sacramento Convention Center and work should begin soon on a 170-room Hyatt Centric boutique hotel on Seventh Street downtown.

Kings Tried To Include Georgios Papagiannis In Cavs-Jazz Trade

Feb 14, 2018 9:52 AM

The Sacramento Kings attempted to include Georgios Papagiannis as part of a three-way trade at the deadline with the Cleveland Cavaliers and Sacramento Kings.

Rival executives say the Kings wanted to save themselves the embarrassment of waiving Papagiannis, who was the 13th pick in 2016.

Koby Altman and Sacramento assistant general manager Brandon Williams vocally disagreed over the insertion of Papagiannis in the trade.

Cleveland couldn't take on his deal because the NBA's repeater tax would turn the balance of his $2.3 million contract for this season and $2.4 million next season into three times that due to the luxury tax.

The Kings waived Papagiannis after the deadline.

Rockets Interested In Trading For George Hill

The Kings want to maintain financial flexibility and the final season of Hill's three-year deal is partially guaranteed.
