Bojan Bogdanovic agreed to a two-year, $39.1 million extension with the Detroit Pistons, sources told Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

Bogdanovic is making $19.5 million in the final year of his contract, with the extension running through the 2024-25 season. 

Bogdanovic, who was acquired from the Jazz this offseason, is averaging 23 points per game this season.

Kevin Knox didn't have any sort of revenge game on his mind when his Detroit Pistons faced the New York Knicks. Instead, Knox took ownership for him not playing well enough for the Knicks.

“I had my fair opportunity; didn’t make the best of it, unfortunately,” Knox said.

Knox said he learned a lot while playing in New York, including that he has to play harder. The fifth year forward also said he's taking advantage of being with the Pistons now.

“I got to go out there and work harder, play better defense, all the narrative that they created. But I put it all on me. I got to go out there and play better, perform better," said Knox. "I have another opportunity here. So, I’m going to go out there and show what I can do."

Rob Murphy, assistant general manager of the Detroit Pistons, is on leave after the franchise opened an investigation into an allegation of workplace misconduct with a former female employee.

Murphy, who is from Detroit, was promoted to assistant GM in June after starting as the franchise's G League president and general manager in March 2021. He had spent the previous two decades as a college coach, including 10 years at Eastern Michigan as head coach until 2021.

Detroit's probe involving Murphy follows the season-long suspension by the Boston Celtics of Ime Udoka. 

The Detroit Pistons waived Kemba Walker on Monday.

The two sides initially agreed to a buyout following Walker's trade from the Knicks on draft day, though Walker admitted that he hadn't received any interest from other NBA teams.

The Pistons will eat Walker's entire $9.2 million salary for this upcoming season. 

The Detroit Pistons are likely to waive Kemba Walker before Monday's deadline to finalize regular-season rosters, sources told Shams Charania and James L. Edwards III of The Athletic.

The Pistons will then have 15 players on their roster.

The 32-year-old Walker, who was traded to the Pistons on draft day, did not join the team for training camp or preseason. 

Marvin Bagley III has been diagnosed with a bone bruise and sprained MCL in his right knee. Bagley will likely be out three to four weeks. There is some relief the injury is not as serious as initially feared. 

Bagley is entering his first full season with the Detroit Pistons and was expected to start.

Bagley re-signed with the Pistons on a three-year, $37.5 million deal.

The Detroit Pistons were linked to a potential pursuit of Deandre Ayton this offseason, but the availability of Jalen Duren at the draft is believed to have led them to change direction.

"The Ayton thing, I think they were going to be the Ayton offer sheet team until Jalen Duren fell to them at 13," said Zach Lowe. "Which I don't think they expected to be in play for them at that level. I mean I know they didn't. And once that happened, I think they said 'Okay, we're just going to roll with what we got. We're not going to clutter our center rotation.'

"Absent that, if they don't get Duren, I think they would have been the Ayton offer sheet team. I would have loved that move for them."

Ayton lingered in his restricted free agency before signing a four-year, $133 million offer sheet with the Indiana Pacers that was swiftly matched by the Phoenix Suns.

Kemba Walker sat courtside and took in the Charlotte Hornets and Boston Celtics preseason game on Friday. That wouldn't be notable, except for the fact that the Detroit Pistons were playing at the same time, and Walker currently remains on Detroit's roster.

Walker and the Pistons have agreed he'll be away from the team, as they work on a contract buyout. To date, that buyout hasn't come.

Detroit's buyout offer has been unacceptable to Walker thus far. The veteran guard said he's in no rush to accept less than he wants, but that he feels good about playing again.

“I’ve got something in the tank, for sure,” Walker said. “I feel great. I’m going to be honest. I’m going to have my opportunity. I’m not in any rush right now. I’m just grinding and trying to feel as good as I can. And right now, I feel great. I feel as good as I’ve felt in a long time. I’m just waiting for the opportunity.”
