Hornets Open To Trading Up For James Wiseman

Oct 27, 2020 10:52 PM

The Charlotte Hornets draft third overall and would like to select James Wiseman and would consider trading up for him.

Both the Minnesota Timberwolves and Golden State Warriors are open to trading down from No. 1 and No. 2, respectively. The Hornets could offer the 32nd overall pick and future selections.

Cody Zeller is the only center on Charlotte's roster signed for 20-21 as he enters the final season of his four-year, $56 million deal.

Anthony Edwards is considered the backup plan if Wiseman isn't available to the Hornets.

Warriors, Hornets Believed To Prefer James Wiseman

Oct 27, 2020 11:36 AM

The Golden State Warriors and Charlotte Hornets are believed to prefer James Wiseman.

The Warriors select No. 2 with the Hornets at No. 3, which means Charlotte could need to trade up with either the Minnesota Timberwolves or Golden State to select him.

Kevin O'Connor suggests the cost of moving up could be similar to when the Philadelphia 76ers traded No. 3 and a future first from the Sacramento Kings to the Boston Celtics for No. 1, which became the Markelle Fultz for Jayson Tatum trade.

Wiseman entered the draft season as the top rated prospect but he played in just three games at Memphis.

Warriors Would 'Strongly Consider' Drafting Saddiq Bey If Team Trades Down

Oct 24, 2020 11:44 PM

The Golden State Warriors would reportedly "strongly consider" drafting Villanova's Saddiq Bey if the team trades down in the draft, sources told Connor Letourneau of the San Francisco Chronicle.

"According to multiple league sources, Golden State would strongly consider Bey if it trades down to the mid- to late-lottery.

"His winning pedigree, defensive versatility, basketball IQ and offensive efficiency make him an intriguing option as a “3-and-D” wing in the Warriors’ system," reported Letourneau.

The 21-year-old Bey is currently ranked No. 18 in ESPN's Best Available.

The Warriors were most recently "blown away" by Dani Avdija's during his private workout.

Warriors To Only Use $17.2 Million Trade Exception For 'Special Opportunity'

Oct 20, 2020 1:35 AM

The Golden State Warriors will only use its $17.2 million trade exception for a "special opportunity," sources told Anthony Slater of The Athletic.

The Warriors received the trade exception as part of the Andre Iguodala deal to the Grizzlies last summer.

The trade exception expires seven days after the start of free agency.

Slater cites the Warriors' currently luxury tax bill combined with the uncertainty over the reopening of the Chase Center as reasons for the hesitation.

Warriors Likely To Target Wing In Draft

Oct 14, 2020 2:06 PM

The Golden State Warriors will likely target a wing in the draft, sources tell Kevin O'Connor of The Ringer.

The Warriors currently have Klay Thompson and Andrew Wiggins as their core on the wing.

Deni Avdija is O'Connor's projected pick at No. 2 for the Warriors as "many league executives expect [him] to enter the mainstream conversation as a top-three pick as the draft approaches."

Avdija is a quality playmaker but his perimeter shooting needs significant improvement.

Warriors Rank 3rd In 2021 NBA Championship Odds Alongside Bucks

Oct 8, 2020 3:22 PM

While the Los Angeles Lakers and Los Angeles Clippers are the clear favorites to win the 2021 NBA championship at +400 and +500 respectively, BetOnline lists the Golden State Warriors at +900 alongside the Milwaukee Bucks at the same number.

The Warriors finished the 19-20 season with the worst record in the NBA after making five straight appearances in The Finals. Golden State figures to get Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green back healthy while they may also make another trade using the No. 2 overall pick.

The Boston Celtics and Brooklyn Nets rank fifth and sixth on the list of odds at +1200 apiece, while the Toronto Raptors, Denver Nuggets and Houston Rockets round out the list.
