Heat Call Ray Allen 'Jesus'

Feb 27, 2013 12:33 PM

Ray Allen starred in 'He Got Game' at the age of 22 in 1998, a Spike Lee movie about highly touted basketball recruit Jesus Shuttlesworth's college decision.

Allen's Miami Heat teammates occasionally call him 'Jesus'.

"We do it sometimes during games when he catches a hot streak or he does something crazy," Chalmers told Fox Sports Florida. "We're like, 'Jesus.' Sometimes he just looks over and smiles."

"LeBron (James) while I was waiting for Ray, 'You waiting on Jesus?' Then he joked about not being ready to meet Jesus for a long while," tweeted Holly MacKenzie.

LeBron May Dial Down Pre-Game Dunks

Feb 27, 2013 10:44 AM

LeBron James may dial down his pre-game dunks following a contest worthy slam that went viral this week.

James has received pressure from fans and his peers to compete in the dunk contest throughout his career.

"Maybe I should stop because it's making a lot of people mad about what I do," James said. "They're like, 'Well, if you can do it in warm-ups, why don't you [want to] be in the dunk contest?' Stop it.' "

The Heat have started to stream video of James' pregame dunks on the team's official website.

Heat Fully Confident Of Late Game Chemistry

Feb 26, 2013 3:51 PM

The Miami Heat have won 12 straight games, duplicating their streak from 10-11.

The Heat have improved offensively late in the game, outscoring opponents by 101 points in the final five minutes of the streak.

“We’re getting better with that,” Chris Bosh said. “As many times as we run through the offense, we should be getting better.

“We’ve seen those situations so many times, especially early on, so we were forced to get our late-game packages together and really start building chemistry and knowing what we want to get to.”

LeBron Focused On Title Defense, Not 2014 Speculation

Feb 25, 2013 12:03 PM

LeBron James was asked on Sunday to comment about rumors connecting him to a possible return to the Cleveland Cavaliers in the 2014 offseason.

The Cavaliers are expected to have cap space and one of the best point guards in the game in Kyrie Irving.

Several reporters have indicated there is a growing belief that James will strongly consider signing with the Cavaliers, especially if Dwyane Wade appears to be in decline.

“My only focus right now is winning another championship,” James said. “I can’t worry about speculation or rumors. What we’re doing on the floor right now is what it’s all about.”

Feb 22, 2013 2:25 PM

The Boston Celtics, Brooklyn Nets, Chicago Bulls, Los Angeles Lakers, Miami Heat and New York Knicks are scheduled to pay the luxury tax this season.

The Bulls have never previously paid the luxury tax and were unable to shed salary at the deadline.

The Los Angeles Clippers, Golden State Warriors and San Antonio Spurs are less than $1 million away from the tax threshold.

The Warriors traded away Jeremy Tyler and Charles Jenkins on Thursday to get under the tax. Golden State has never paid the luxury tax in franchise history.

The Lakers will have the largest luxury tax bill, as they currently are nearly $30 million over the threshold, while the Celtics are over by less than $1 million.
