Dion Waiters Rejected Ankle Surgery With 8-10 Month Recovery

Sep 27, 2017 4:00 PM

Dion Waiters said he decided not to undergo ankle surgery last March, which would have forced him to miss eight to 10 months.

The Miami Heat re-signed Waiters on a four-year, $52 million deal.

Waiters continues to push through discomfort in his ankle as training camp gets underway.

"Some days you're going to feel great, some days it might be just one of them days," he said following practice at Florida Atlantic University. "You have to push through it and be smart about the whole situation.

"The swelling just started going down. It's still a little bit swollen but it's not how it was before."

Waiters missed the final 13 games of last season as the Heat narrowly missed out on the playoffs.

"When I found out, it was only two choices," Waiters said. "I'm not a big fan of surgery, so I try to avoid surgery. I didn't want to be out eight to 10 months. I asked for another solution, 'What’s another way we can go about it?' We went that route, just getting it stronger, keep getting treatments every day all day. That's all I really do. But it’s fine, though. I’m good, man."

Heat Interested In Dwyane Wade If He Takes Bench Role

Sep 8, 2017 11:52 AM

The Miami Heat will have interest in signing Dwyane Wade if he agrees to a bench role at their $4.3 million exception.

Wade and the Chicago Bulls are interested in a buyout to allow him to play for a contender.

Wade was recently asked by David Aldridge about what his preference would be for the coming season.

“First of all, obviously, everyone wants to compete,” Wade said. “It's no secret. We would all love to compete for a championship at the end of my career. That is one thing I would love to do. I'm not in a position right now to do that so I can't talk about what that preference is. Hopefully, one day before I'm done playing this game, I can be back in position to compete for a championship.”

Aldridge asked if it’s fair to say he will report to the Bulls and provide leadership but “in a perfect world” would “be back on another team that can compete?”

The Cleveland Cavaliers also have interest in signing Wade.

Dwyane Wade Hasn't Ruled Out Heat, Lakers, Clippers

Sep 4, 2017 6:49 PM

According to ESPN, Dwyane Wade is zeroed in on signing with the Cleveland Cavaliers if he reached a buyout agreement with the Chicago Bulls.

But a source close to Wade contends he will consider signing with the Miami Heat, Los Angeles Lakers or Los Angeles Clippers if he's bought out.

Wade reportedly enrolled his children in a South Florida school this year.

The Heat would certainly consider re-signing Wade.

Heat To Have Josh Richardson Push Justise Winslow For Starting SF Job

Sep 4, 2017 3:38 PM

The Miami Heat expect Josh Richardson to compete for their starting small forward spot against Justise Winslow and Rodney McGruder.

Winslow missed most of last season with a shoulder injury and the Heat won't gift him the job.

Richardson is more of a natural guard but he has enough length to defend small forwards.

One player source said Winslow has looked good in workouts.
